pincushion

One of the few red-flowering perennials to bloom for the whole season. This small crimson-red pincushion flowers throughout the summer and into autumn.

Native to the damp grasslands, woodlands, meadows, and rocky areas in Europe. It was formerly known as Scabiosa rumelica. It prefers neutral to alkaline soils and thrives in climates with cool summer nights.
