Millennium Park Foundation is pleased to announce that Kristian Brooks will join the staff of the Foundation as Lurie Garden’s Assistant Horticulturist. Kathryn Deery, the Garden’s Head Horticulturist, said, “Kristian’s background in the arts and passion for public gardens will be a tremendous asset to Lurie Garden. I am thrilled to have her join the team as a steward for this iconic garden.”
Donna LaPietra, Millennium Park Foundation President & Chairperson, shared Kathryn’s excitement about this new hire, “With the hiring of Kristian, Lurie Garden now has two full-time year-round professional horticulturists and a seasonal horticultural apprentice. This team has the knowledge, skills, and passion to curate the artistry and ecology of the Garden at the high standards the world expects when they think ‘Lurie Garden’.”
Reflecting on her new role with Lurie Garden, Kristian said, “I’m very honored to be entrusted with the care of this iconic living work of art. I hope to foster meaningful artistry and inspiration to the residents and visitors of Chicago.”
Kristian comes from a horticultural family, growing up in a family-owned independent garden center in Michigan. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Horticulturist in the Regenstein Learning Campus at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Kristian also has a background in professional dance with on-stage experiences with Aerial Dance Chicago and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Kristian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester.
