Lurie Garden Membership

Lurie Garden Members are a community of people who share a love of the garden while supporting the activities that fulfill its mission.

Our supporters give to the garden because their hearts are touched by its beauty and they understand the importance of fostering a stronger connection between nature and the public. Our members all have their own unique connection to the garden while sharing the understanding that the act of contributing strengthens the community as well as deepens their relationship to a place that always gives generously to wildlife, the casual visitor, and those who call Chicago home.

In 2018 our members helped us in:

  • Presenting over 75 free public programs in 2018
  • Supporting our volunteer program that logged over 1,200 hours
interacting with the public and helping with programming
  • Providing educational and inspirational content to the public via our newsletters and social media
  • Continuing improvements on our plant records and website’s plant finder

Thank you!

Membership Gift – Lurie Garden Pressed Plant Prints with Calligraphy Notation

When we opened up our plant press last year we realized how we could express to our patrons our appreciation for their support. After we carefully scanned some of the plants, we asked area calligrapher, Julie Wildman, to design a script to write the common and scientific name of each selection. The results are beautiful 11x14″, limited-run prints that can be framed, given as gifts, and collected as we will continue this process with new plants for years to come!

For 2018-2019 the membership pressed plant prints are Astrantia major ‘Roma’ (masterwort ‘Roma’), Porteranthus trifoliatus (Bowman’s root), and Asclepias tuberosa (butterfly weed)Tulip-level members will receive a print of masterwort ‘Roma’. Allium Level members will receive all three prints. Our pressed plant prints are limited-edition and fit perfectly in a standard 11x14″ frame.

We stuff this update with photos of the garden and news about what we’ve seen in the garden, new plant additions, trips to other gardens, or maintenance and construction projects.
