Volunteer Manager and Tour Coordinator

In 2005 Melanie became a Master Gardener through the University of Illinois Extension. When she finished her training and started to complete the volunteer hours needed to be certified, she went to the Lurie Garden to see if any volunteers were needed. They did and the rest is history.

Melanie have been an official member of the staff as the Volunteer Manager since 2007. Her background as a high school teacher for 32 years helps her to keep the 65 volunteers in our program scheduled for all of the events that the garden provides to the public.

Office Hours: Part Time, Tuesday/Thursday
