Bees in the Garden
The Lurie Garden is home to many bees, due largely in part to our dedication to sustainable gardening practices and our unique perennial plant design.
Bees are extremely sensitive to chemicals and insecticides, so that fact that the Lurie Garden refrains from using any such products, make it a safe place for bees to call their home. Bees also need a large area of one plant species to attract them, and the massing of perennials in the Lurie Garden provides sufficient nectar and pollen sources for the bees.
